Schleissheim

Schleissheim.JPG

Schleissheim, or more correctly Oberschleissheim is a district of Munich, situated north of the city and west of the district of Dachau. The ITS list gives a date of activity from 5th October 1941, but what it refers to is not made clear. To the south of the community is a large airfield that was apparently the base for a night fighter unit and there are two museums on the site. To the north of Oberschleissheim lies the district of Unterschleissheim, where it seems there was a women's sub-camp. This may have been in the Lohof district where, according to a 2017 article in The Times of Israel, there was once a flax-retting plant, including a rail line, a warehouse and a tower which apparently still exist, as well as a bunker that is currently used as an electrician's shed .
